Role: Senior Software Engineer (SAP Developer)
Location:

Working Arrangement: Hybrid — onsite full-time for the first 6 weeks; hybrid flexibility considered thereafter, subject to reasonable proximity to the RFQ location
Contract Duration:

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior SAP Developer to join a team supporting the DVA (Department of Veterans' Affairs) ecosystem. This role will design, develop, maintain and test SAP solutions that support DVA's business processes, working closely with analysts, functional consultants and other IT specialists to deliver high-quality, secure and efficient SAP applications in line with government standards.

The successful candidate will also provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers, overseeing development projects, writing optimized code, and taking responsibility for the quality and functionality of delivered software.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, configure and maintain SAP modules
  • Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Design, code, test and implement SAP enhancements, reports and interfaces
  • Support integration between SAP and other enterprise systems
  • Identify, investigate and resolve SAP-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations
  • Provide technical advice and mentoring to junior developers
  • Participate in system upgrades, patching and performance testing
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation
  • Deliver on projects within the assigned area of responsibility
  • Perform cost analysis activities as required
  • Work collaboratively using agile ways of working
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated practical experience in ECC to S/4HANA upgrade, migration or remediation work within large and complex enterprise environments
  • TECHNICAL SKILLS SAP CRM SAP S/4HANA SAP ABAP SAP BRF+ SAP UI5

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA (SFIA-ALIGNED)

  • Emerging Technology Monitoring — SFIA Level 5: Monitors the external environment for emerging technologies, assesses impacts, threats and opportunities, and shares insights via reports and roadmaps.
  • Methods and Tools — SFIA Level 5: Advises on and promotes adoption of methods and tools, evaluates and selects tools aligned to policy, and implements them at programm, project and team level.
  • Programming / Software Development — SFIA Level 5: Takes technical responsibility across all stages of software development, planning and driving construction activities and monitoring standards including security.
  • Release and Deployment — SFIA Level 5: Leads assessment, planning and design of release packages, liaises on scheduling, conducts post-release reviews and manages release/deployment tooling.
  • Software Configuration — SFIA Level 5: Takes technical responsibility for configuration development and deployment, applying appropriate methods, tools and standards including security.
  • Software Design — SFIA Level 4: Designs complex software applications and components, models and communicates design views, and reviews designs against specifications.
  • Specialist Advice — SFIA Level 4: Provides detailed advice on the application of a specialism to organizational planning and operations, collaborating with other specialists as needed.
  • Systems Design — SFIA Level 5: Designs large or complex systems, undertakes impact analysis on design options, and contributes to system design policy and architecture standards.
  • Systems Integration and Build — SFIA Level 5: Plans and drives systems integration and build capability including automation and continuous integration, assessing and mitigating risk.
  • Testing — SFIA Level 4: Selects appropriate testing approaches, develops and executes test plans, implements automated test frameworks, and reports on test outcomes and risk.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Configuration Management — SFIA Level 2: Applies tools, techniques and processes to administer, track, log, report on and correct configuration items and changes.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must hold, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Baseline security clearance prior to commencement
  • Candidate must be willing to work at the RFQ location for the duration of the contract
  • Two referee details required (previous manager within the last 4 years)
  • Exclusive representation by the submitting Seller for this RFQ
