Role: AWS Solution Architect (with migration experience)

Location: Perth, WA, Australia

Contract Type: 6 months with possible extension

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced AWS Solution Architect to lead a large-scale cloud migration initiative. This role requires strong hands-on architecture experience in designing, planning, and executing end-to-end migrations from on-premises or legacy environments to AWS.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in migration strategy, assessment, execution, and optimization within enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end cloud migration strategy and execution to AWS.
  • Conduct application and infrastructure assessments (Discovery & Readiness).
  • Design scalable, secure, and cost-optimized AWS architectures.
  • Define migration patterns (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Repurchase, Retire, Retain – 6R strategy).
  • Work closely with stakeholders, DevOps, security, and infrastructure teams.
  • Ensure compliance, governance, and security best practices.
  • Optimize performance, cost, and reliability post-migration.
  • Provide architectural documentation and best practice guidance.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years in IT infrastructure / cloud architecture.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services such as:
  • EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, Lambda
  • AWS Migration Hub, DMS, Application Migration Service (MGN)
  • Proven experience in large-scale migration projects.
  • Experience with hybrid environments and networking (VPN, Direct Connect).
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks and governance.
  • Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation).
  • AWS Solution Architect Certification (Associate or Professional preferred)

Nice to Have

  • Experience in enterprise or government environments.
  • Knowledge of containerization (EKS, ECS, Docker).
  • Experience with cost optimization and Well-Architected Framework reviews.
